The Indian selectors, on Thursday, announced the squad for the three-match T20 series against Bangladesh starting on November 3. On expected lines, Indian captain Virat Kohli was rested to keep him fresh for the upcoming challenges. In Kohli’s absence, the in-form Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the T20s.
Among the notable inclusions in the 15-member squad are Kerala wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who scored a double hundred in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 against Goa. Meanwhile, all-rounder Shivam Dube got picked on the basis of his efforts against South Africa A. Dube had a good ODI series, with a 79 from 60 balls in the first match, and a couple of other quick cameos.
The first T20I of the series between India and Bangladesh will be held on November 3 in New Delhi. The second T20I will be played at Rajkot on November 7. The T20I series will conclude with the third match at Nagpur on November 10.
The first Test will start from November 14 in Indore while the second Test will be played at the Eden Gardens from November 22. India is currently leading the World Test Championship with 240 points.
The Bangladesh tour of India was under a cloud due to players’ strike over pay issues. However, the cricketers called off the protest after the Bangladesh Cricket Board agreed to most of the demands.
India drew the T20I series against South Africa 1-1 before blanking them 3-0 in the Tests.
