Not all Test draws are dull. The tense finish between New Zealand and England at Auckland on Tuesday, when England managed to hang on and save the match in spite of losing nine wickets made for engrossing viewing.
The Auckland Test was a case of so near yet so far for New Zealand as the visiting Englishmen hung on by the scruff off their neck to draw the game, and with it the series, as both the earlier Tests had also ended in stalemates – a rare occurrence in today’s day and age.
England pulled off a sensational draw in the Third and final Test at the Eden Park in Auckland from a losing position. With the unexpected stalemate, the New Zealand-England series ended with a 0-0 draw.
