A Delhi team without four of its big international players went onto upset England in a warm-up One Dayer at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. It was a high scoring game in contrast to the recently played Indo-Pak third ODI. England batting first piled up 294 for 5 on the board in 50 overs with opener Ian Bell top scoring with 108 (from 125 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes).
Skipper Alastair Cook with 44 (from 58 balls with 7 fours) , Eoin Morgan with 52 (from 55 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes) and Craig Kieswetter with 41* (from 27 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes) also got amongst the runs. For Delhi, 22-year-old leggie Varun Sood took 3 for 45 in 10 overs.
Delhi then chased down the target of 295 quite comfortably with 9 balls to spare while losing only four wickets against a decent English attack. India discard and also the Delhi Skipper – Shikhar Dhawan led from the front to score 110 from 109 balls (with 14 fours and 3 sixes). 21-year-old Milind Kumar was the surprise package scoring 78* from 85 balls (with 7 fours and 3 sixes). Veteran Delhi player Rajat Bhatia played a crucial cameo of 45* (from 33 balls with 8 fours) to take his team home.
