Just when the match seemed to be under total control for England came a carnage of big shots from Kevin O'Brien who struck sixes at will in the company of Alex Cussack.

Both Kevin O'Brien and Alex Cussack put up a massive 162-run stand for the 6th wicket to entertain Ireland's chances of a win. Cussack got run out after a well made 47 from 58 balls leaving Ireland at 273 for 6 in the 42nd over. Kevin O'Brien having smashed a hundred focused on staying till the end and it was only when Ireland needed only 12 more to win from 12 balls that he lost his wicket through a run out. But by then Kevin O'Brien had done his job scoring 113 in just 63 balls with 13 fours and 6 sixes. The match was finished by the left handed John Mooney who got a few crucial boundaries under pressure in his unbeaten 33 from 30 balls. Ireland won the match in the final over with five balls to spare.
