Cameron White was named the new captain of Australia's Twenty20 side following the resignation Friday of Michael Clarke.
Clarke quit the international Twenty20 format, saying after Australia's 3-1 Ashes series loss to England that he wanted to focus on test and 50-overs cricket.
Victoria state skipper White was appointed captain of Australia for two Twenty20 games against England next week, with Tasmania wicketkeeper Tim Paine his deputy.
Injury-prone pacemen Brett Lee and Shaun Tait were named in Australia's T20 squad, which also included international newcomers Aaron Finch and James Pattinson.
The 12-man squad features just three test players: Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson and Steve Smith.
