West Indies A's Kirk Edwards and Kraigg Brathwaite kept India A's bowlers at bay for almost two sessions with a 172-run second-wicket stand, but quick strikes in the last session meant the teams were even at the end of the opening day of the first unofficial Test in Mysore.

West Indies A's Kirk Edwards and Kraigg Brathwaite kept India A's bowlers at bay for almost two sessions with a 172-run second-wicket stand, but quick strikes in the last session meant the teams were even at the end of the opening day of the first unofficial Test in Mysore.

West Indies A closed the opening day’s play of their 1st Unofficial Test at Mysore at 264 for 5. India A bowlers who were kept at bat by a 172-run stand for the second wicket found some joy towards the end of the day’s play taking three wickets for 26 runs.

Both opener Brathwaite and Skipper Kirk Edwards missed out on their respective centuries. The pair got together when their side had lost Kieran Powell for a duck in the 3rd over to Mohammad Shami. India A’s next success came only in the 58th over when Edwards got out for 91 (from 162 balls with 11 fours and a six).

Brathwaite got out on 92 (from 215 balls with 12 fours) to off spinner Parvez Rasool. The same bowler had Narsingh Deonarime caught and bowled for 28. Another off-break bowler Rajat Paliwal got the wicket of Leon Johnson before the close of play.

The India A side for this game is being led by Cheteshwar Pujara. The batting line-up consists of several young names while the bowling attack has two players – Ashok Dinda and Mohammad Shami, who havd played for India.
