Sri Lanka won their first Test series since 2009, and also their first since the retirement of the legendary Muttiah Muralitharan following the much expected draw at Pallekele, with rain playing spoilsport again.
Rangana Herath’s late blows brought Sri Lanka strongly back in the Pallakele Test as Pakistan ended Day 4 on a disappointing note with a lead of 188 runs with just two wickets in hand. This was despite a century from Azhar Ali and half centuries from Hafeez and Asad Shafiq.
Sri Lanka are in the driver’s seat in the Pallekele Test thanks to a heroic knock from Thisara Perera followed up by an early Pakistani wicket. By the close of play on Day 3, Pakistan are 27 for 1 in 6 overs having conceded a first innings lead of 111 runs.
