Krunal Pandya put up an impressive all-round show on debut as India beat West Indies by five wickets

Krunal Pandya put up an impressive all-round show on debut as India beat West Indies by five wickets. With the ball, Krunal claimed the big wicket of Kieron Pollard, his Mumbai Indians teammate and then slammed 21 from nine balls to take India home at Eden Gardens.

Stand-in captain Rohit Sharma was extremely pleased with Krunal’s effort. Speaking post the match, he said, "Krunal, I've seen him closely playing for Mumbai Indians. He likes the situation where the team expects him to perform.”

Making an interesting revelation, Rohit added, "He was the one who asked me 'I want to bowl to Pollard, and got him out.' When you see guys accept challenges and bail the team out, it's exciting as captain or as a team management.”

West Indies managed only 109 for 8 in their 20 overs, with Kuldeep Yadav rattling the visitors with three wickets. An unbeaten 31 from Dinesh Karthik then saw India home after some jitters at the start.
