When England skipper Alastair Cook reached the three-figure mark on day five at Rajkot, he went past Sir Don Bradman among the list of batsmen with most ten hundreds, making him the latest to join the 30 Test hundreds club. Here’s a look at batsmen with 30 or more Test tons.

Sachin Tendulkar: The Indian legend tops the list. He played exactly 200 Tests, and ended up notching 51 hundreds to add to his 68 fifties, at an average of 53.78, and a best of 248 not out.

Jacques Kallis: The retired South African all-rounder in next on the list. In 166 Tests, he managed to hit 45 hundreds and 58 fifties at an average of 55.37, with a best of 224.

Ricky Ponting: Australia’s former skipper is at number three. In 168 Tests, he finished with 41 tons and 62 fifties at an average of 51.85, which took a hit as he struggled towards the end, and a best of 257.

Kumar Sangakkara: At number four is the Sri Lankan giant scored 38 Test tons in 134 Tests, to go with his 52 fifties, at an excellent average of 57.40, and a best of 319.

Rahul Dravid: The Indian Wall comes in next. He managed 36 Test hundreds in 164 games, apart from his 63 fifties. Dravid ended his career with an average of 52.31 and a best of 270.

Sunil Gavaskar: The original Little Master comes next. In 125 Tests, he scored 34 tons and 45 fifties, and for a long time, held the record for the most Test hundreds. Gavaskar averaged 51.12 with a best of 236 not out.

Brian Lara: A sheer genius, the elegant left-hander also ended with 34 tons in 131 Tests, along with 48 fifties. Lara averaged 52.88 with a best of that famous 400 not out.

Mahela Jayawardene: Sri Lanka’s ex-skipper also managed 34 Test tons in 149 matches, apart from 50 fifties. Jayawardene averaged 49.84 with a best of a brilliant 374.

Younis Khan: A modern giant, Khan so far has 33 Test hundreds and 31 fifties to his name in 110 Tests. He averages 53.98 with a best of 313. There may be still a few left in the tank looking at his current form.

Steve Waugh: One of Australia’s greatest skippers, Waugh managed 32 Test hundreds and 50 fifties in 168 Tests. Waugh averaged 51.06 with a best of 200.

Matthew Hayden: The ex-Aussie opener notched up 30 Test tons and 29 fifties in 103 matches. He averaged 50.73 with a best of 380.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul: West Indies’ unsung hero scored 30 Test tons and 66 fifties in 164 games. He averaged 51.37 with a best of 203 not out.

Alastair Cook: England’s current skipper is the first player from his country to reach the landmark. He made 130 in his 136th Test. He also has 52 fifties to his credit at an average of around 48 with a best of 294, also against India.
