India A shook off an indifferent start with the bat, and then overcome the stiff resistance offered by Litton Das and Nasir Hossain while in the field to register an impressive 96-run triumph against Bangladesh in the first of the three ODIs at Bangalore. Gurkeerat Singh Mann was the standout performer for India A in the game. He first hit an impressive 65 from 58 balls to aid in pushing the team's total into the 330s. With the ball, he then claimed 5 for 29, including the scalps of Das and Hossain as India A shot out Bangladesh for 226 in 42.3 overs.

At one stage during the chase, the match was very well in the balance. After having lost early wickets, Das and Hossain had led the fightback for the visitors. The duo took the score from a precarious 87 for 5 to a healthy 207. However, this is when Gurkeerat took over. He had Hussain caught by Suresh Raina for 52, and clean bowled Das for a run-a-ball 75. While Hossain managed only two fours and two sixes during his knock, Das blasted eight fours apart from a couple of sixes. Gurkeerat's double strike however put India firmly in the driver's seat, and he roared his way to a five-for, taking the next three wickets quickly -- Rubel Hossain, Arafat Sunny and Taskin Ahmed.

Earlier, in the day, India recovered from an embarrassingly poor start to post a daunting total on the board. At one stage during the innings they were struggling at 125 for 5 when Gurkeerat came in to join Sanju Samson. They did the perfect recovery job for the team. Samson eased his way to 73 off 76 balls with aid of 8 fours while Gurkeerat hit 9 fours in his 65. The fight back wasn't complete for India yet as Rishi Dhawan smashed 56 not out from 34. The late order hitting was in stark contrast to the early struggles.

Bangladesh were all over India A early on. After a bright start, Taskin sent back skipper Unmukt Chand for 16. Manish Pandey had 1 when he fell to Shafiul Islam while Suresh Raina was on 16 when he was trapped lbw by Nasir. Kedar Jadhav was run out before opening his score. And, when Mayank Agarwal fell having made a sedate 56, India had lost half their side with under 150 on the board. They were in trouble for sure, but Samson, Gurkeerat and Dhawan turned the tide.

India rode on the momentum they had gained when they came on to bowl. Sreenath Aravind got Soumya Sarkar, Anamul Haque and Rony Talukdar inside the first six overs. At the other end, Dhawan dismissed Mominul Haque and Sabbir Rahman, both of whom had got starts. The partnership between Nasir and Das gave Bangladesh a genuine chance of winning, but Gurkeerat was too good for them on the day.
