England Women won the Third ODI at the County Ground in Taunton against India Women on Thursday and thus reducing the series lead of the visitors to 2-1. It was a close game of sorts with England Women winning the low-scoring contest by 3 wickets with 2.4 overs to spare.

England Women won the Third ODI at the County Ground in Taunton against India Women on Thursday and thus reducing the series lead of the visitors to 2-1. It was a close game of sorts with England Women winning the low-scoring contest by 3 wickets with 2.4 overs to spare.

Bowling first after winning the toss, England Women restricted India Women to 173 for 5. Star batswoman Mithali Raj top scored for the Indians with 92 from 138 balls with 4 fours. For the English Women, Georgia Elwiss bowled on a tight leash conceding only 15 runs in her 10 overs besides taking a wicket.

England Women reached the target of 174 in 47.2 overs losing seven wickets. The target was achieved thanks to meaningful contributions from Tammy Beaumont (44 from 81 balls with 4 fours), Wicket Keeper Sarah Taylor (34 from 44 balls with 4 fours) and Arran Brindle (40 from 52 balls with 5 fours). For India Women, left-arm spinner Gouher Sultana was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 26 in 8 overs.

Mithali Raj for her 92 got the Player of the Match award.
