News and Score Update of New Zealand XI Vs Zimbabweans, Day 1 at the Harry Barker Reserve, Gisborne

Zimbabwe who are touring New Zealand for a one-off Test match, 3 ODIs and 2 T20Is have started their tour on a bright note. The minnows bowled decently well on Day 1 of their 3-day warm-up match against New Zealand XI at the Harry Barker Reserve, Gisborne by reducing the hosts to 59 for 4 at one stage. The Kiwi XI managed to recover to declare its first innings at 272 for 7 with Wicket Keeper batsman BJ Watling top scoring with 84 from 181 balls with a dozen boundaries.

Also amongst the runs for the hosts were former New Zealand Skipper Daniel Vettori who got 49 from 63 balls and Sam Wells who struck 65 from 85 balls. For the Zimbabweans, Shingi Masakadza was the most successful bowler taking two wickets. At the close of play on Day 1, Zimbabwe are 39 for no loss.
