Amidst many others, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi also had a message for India. Afridi tweeted a message which was loved by many. He wrote, "Happy Independence Day India! No way to change neighbours, let's work towards peace, tolerance and love. Let humanity prevail,"

The tweet was liked and retweeted by thousands. After Afridi's tweets, many other Pakistani fans of the cricketer also wished India.

It may be recalled that recently Afridi had expressed gratitude towards India captain Virat Kohli for donating a cricket bat for his foundation. The India team had also given Afridi a signed jersey following his retirement last April. The shirt fetched Rs 3 lakhs at an auction in London. It had a message from Kohli, which read, "To Shahid Bhai, best wishes, always a pleasure playing against you."
