DLF IPL 2012: Heavy rain washed out the Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Deccan Chargers, Match 32 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata

The KKR Vs DC match at the Eden Gardens was abandoned at around 10:25 PM IST as the ground was heavily waterlogged. The only dry part of the ground was the pitch but the outfield although being covered had taken a heavy beating. With the match being called off, Deccan Chargers have finally avoided a defeat to collect their maiden point of the IPL 5.

Update at 9:40 PM IST: Heavy thunderstorms have left the Eden Gardens completely soaked up in water. There are huge puddles on the outfield and with still a bit of drizzle in the air, the match looks unlikely to begin! The cut off time though for a 5-over contest is still far away and can even be started somewhere around 11:20 PM.

There was a tragey at the Eden Gardens with one of the stands collapsing. There are reports of injuries to some of the spectators but nothing has come out officially yet.

Update at 7:45 PM IST: Rain has delayed the start of the Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Deccan Chargers match at the Eden Gardens. It’s of course not the first time that the Eden Gardens has been hit by rain in this edition of the IPL. Although it was just a bit of drizzle at the time of the toss, the two captains were forced out of the park as the rain got heavier. There is lot of breeze as well at Kolkata along with lightening and thunder in the sky. But it may not be a huge delay before the match gets underway should the rain stop.
