Pakistan thrashed Zimbabwe by 90 runs at Harare in the Second ODI to level the 3-match series. Mohammad Hafeez scripted the victory for the visitor with a 6th ODI ton while Junaid Khan and other bowlers ripped through the Zimbabwean batting line-up on a flat surface.
Zimbabwe needing 300 to win were on the backfoot going slowly after losing three wickets for 65 in 15 overs. Skipper Brendan Taylor played a fighting knock of 79 from 95 balls with 6 fours and a six but couldn’t carry it till the end. The Zimbabwean Captain got good support from Sean Williams (37 from 38 balls) and Malcolm Waller (40 from 42 balls).
The hosts had a mighty collapse losing its last six wickets for the addition of just 9 runs in three and a half overs space. Junaid Khan had a great day taking 4 for 15 in 7 overs. Spinners Abdur Rehman and Saeed Ajmal took a couple of wickets each. The hosts were bundled out for 209 in 42.4 overs. Hafeez as expected got the Man of the Match award. The third and final match of the series which is going to be a decider will be played at this same venue on the 31st.
Hafeez ton lifts Pak to 299: Pakistan posted a high total of 299 for 4 after being asked to bat first in the Second ODI at Harare. Mohammad Hafeez, coming in at no.3, scored his 6th ODI century to give Pakistan a great chance of staying alive in the 3-match series. Hafeez scored an unbeaten 136 from 130 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes.
Apart from Hafeez, the other chief contributors were left-handed Umar Amin with a 71-ball 59 and Shahid Afridi with an unbeaten cameo of 39 from 23 balls which included three sixes.
