India beat Ireland by eight wickets at Seddon Park in Hamilton to book their place at the top of the Pool B table, with the five wins in as many games. Here’s a look at important statistics from the relatively one-sided affair.

India’s win against Ireland is now their ninth consecutive win in the World Cup. Their record goes back to the 2011 World Cup. They won their last four matches in the 2011 edition, and now have tasted five wins in as many matches in the ongoing edition. The record for most consecutive World Cup wins is held by Australia, with 25 victories.

Shikhar Dhawan hit his second World Cup century in five matches to go with his one fifty. He is now second of the list of batsmen with most runs in the 2015 edition, behind Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara, who has scored hundreds in his last three matches. Dhawan’s tally in the current World Cup now stands at 333 while Sangakkara has 372 runs to his name.

The 174 runs added between Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is now the highest opening partnership for India in World Cups. The duo beat the record held by Ajay Jadeja and Sachin Tendulkar, who added 163 against Kenya at Cuttack in the 1996 edition.

With the latest triumph, MS Dhoni has become India’s most successful World Cup captain. The Ireland win was his 12th as Indian skipper. Kapil Dev earlier held the record with 11.

During the course of his 64, Rohit Sharma became the 14th Indian batsman to score 4000 runs in one-dayers.

India have now bowled out their opponents in each of their five games. The only other team who have a better record in this aspect is South Africa. They bowled out opponents in six consecutive matches during the 2011 World Cup in the sub-continent.

The 89 run-stand between William Porterfield and Paul Stirling is now the highest opening stand for Ireland against a team from the top sides in ODIs.

While Ireland had a decent outing with the bat, a collapse resulted in five of them being dismissed for single-figure scores.

There was a stark contrast in the economy rate of India’s bowlers in the match. While the spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Suresh Raina went at 3.8 and 4 respectively, Umesh Yadav and Rohit Sharma conceded runs at 8.5 and 7 runs per over respectively.
