India chased down the smallish target of 116 with 31 balls to spare to coast to a 7-wicket win against Afghanistan. Murali Vijay was the top scorer for the Indians scoring a neat 48 from 46 balls. The stylish opener who was on his T20I debut struck two fours and three sixes while putting up 55 runs for the third wicket with Yuvraj Singh (23 not out from 22 balls). Skipper MS Dhoni finished the match without any fuss through a couple of sixes over long off.

Afghanistan bowling was decent though nothing special to note of. Their fielding wasn't that good and a couple of Indian batsmen were benefited by that. It took 14.5 overs for India to get to the target. They lost three wickets in the chase starting with Gambhir smacking one to cover point, Suresh Raina getting lbw to a quicker one and finally Vijay whacking one straight to wide long on.

The Man of the Match award was given to Ashish Nehra who took three wickets in the first half of the match.
