South Africa are nicely set up to pile up a huge first innings total in their second Test at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. Run machine Hashim scored his 19th Test century to take the Proteas to 325 for 4 on the opening day’s play after Graeme Smith had won the toss and elected to bat first.

South Africa are nicely set up to pile up a huge first innings total in their second Test at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. Run machine Hashim scored his 19th Test century to take the Proteas to 325 for 4 on the opening day’s play after Graeme Smith had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Amla remained unbeaten on 106 (from 211 balls with 8 fours). Apart from him, Graeme Smith scored 54 (from 88 balls with 8 fours) and AB de Villiers got 51 (from 81 balls with 6 fours). By the end of the day’s play, Amla has got into a strong partnership with Faf du Plessis who is unbeaten on 69 (from 112 balls with 8 fours and a six).

For the Kiwis, Doug Bracewell took two wickets. The visitors gave debut to 25-year-old Colin Munro, the medium pace all-rounder.
