Bangladesh tasted their first victory after defeating hosts Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the 4th match of the T20 Tri Series in Harare. This is Bangladesh’s first success on this tour having suffered two defeats against a Zimbabwe Select XI followed up by losses against Zimbabwe and South Africa in the Tri-Series.
Zimbabwe had won the toss and elected to bat first in what was the second match between the sides. The hosts came up with a slightly below par total of 149 for 8. Once again opener Hamilton Masakadza showed good form scoring 56 but took 54 balls for that while striking 5 fours and a six. Skipper Brendan Taylor chipped in with a cameo of 27 from 13 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. However, the rest of the Zimbabwean batsmen couldn’t get going against a tight Bangladeshi attack.
For the Tigers, Mashrafe Mortaza took 2 for 28 in 4 overs while Abdur Razzak conceded only 20 off his 4 overs. Bangladesh in their run chase lost three early wickets but after that a couple of handy partnerships eased Bangladesh to victory with 15 balls to spare. Nasir Hossain was the top scorer with 41 (from 31 balls with 3 fours). Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 31 (from 23 balls with a six) and Mahmudullah came up with unbeaten cameo of 29 (from 14 balls with 3 fours and a six).
Mashrafe Mortaza got the Man of the Match award for his 2 for 28.
