Hosts Adelaide Strikers crushed Melbourne Renegades by a thumping margin of 67 runs in the Big Bash contest at the Adelaide Oval today. Though not a single batsman scored a fifty, hosts Adelaide Strikers asked to bat first put up a huge total of 189 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.

The chief scorers for Adelaide were its openers - Daniel Harris (who scored 49 from 33 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes) and Skipper Michael Klinger (who made 46 from 35 balls with 4 fours and a six). No.6 Cameron Borgas gave a perfect finish to the innings with his cameo of 28* from just 9 balls with a couple of fours and as many sixes.

Melbourne Renegades chasing the stiff target were pegged back at 38 for 3 from which they could barely recover. The lower half of the batting just crumbled quickly and Melbourne was bundled out for 122 in 17.5 overs. No.3 Glenn Maxwell was the top scorer for the losing side with his 31-ball 46. For the Adelaide side, 20-year-old pacer Kane Richardson picked up 3 for 27 while Aaron O'Brien and South African Johan Botha took a couple of wickets each.

Adelaide's Skipper Michael Klinger got the Player of the Match award.
