The announcement of new Sri Lankan captain is expected this week. The job will be given to Tillakaratne Dilshan or Angelo Mathews but Mathews is been considered as the strongest candidates. The cricket experts of Sri Lanka think that Angelo Mathews will be the best option as Sri Lankan captain as he is young and lead the team for a long period.

It is to be remembered that former Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara was resigned from captaincy after losing the final of ICC World Cup 2011 against India. After that vice-captain Mahela Jaywardene and the two members of selection committee were also resigned.

The chairman of the selectors Daleep Mandis on Saturday said that now a days the holidays are going of new Sanhali year any thing will be with consensus with indorm committee of board after the meeting.

If Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) board will adopt the long-term captaincy policy then Angelo Mathews will be the strongest candidate. His age is 23 years. But if SLC is looking to give the job of Sri Lankan captain to an experienced player then 34-year-old Dilshan will be another option.

The next assignment of Sri Lankan team is the tour of England, scheduled in May where they will play the Test and ODI matches.
