Minnows Ireland have restricted hosts West Indies to 138 for 9 in their Group D match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. West Indies were in deep trouble at 93 for 6 in 16 overs after winning the toss and batting first. A late assault of 30 from 17 balls (with 2 fours and 2 sixes) from Daren Sammy ensured that the hosts had a decent target to defend on what continues to be a sluggish pitch for T20 cricket!

The pick of the bowlers was George Dockwell, who is the youngest player of the tournament at the age of 17. With his teasing left arm spinners, Dockwell picked up three wickets while conceding only 16 runs in his 4 overs! Ireland should fancy their chances of an upset and for that they need one of the batsmen to bat right through the innings while a couple of them need to come up with bright cameos.

The pressure is certainly on the West Indies to defend this not-so-big total of 138. They will have to depend a lot on their pacers to bowl the slower ones while the lone spinner in Nikita Miller will have a crucial four overs spell. So far the conditions have been overcast with a possibility of a light shower though its just matter of one and a half hours of cricket needed to decide the winner between Windies and Ireland.
