Alzarri Joseph picked up a sensational 6 for 12 on his Indian T20 Cricket debut as Mumbai overcame Hyderabad by 40 runs at Hyderabad on Saturday. Bowling first, Hyderabad were successful in restricting Mumbai to 136 for 7, that too thanks to Kieron Pollard's 46 from 26 balls.
Joseph's figures are now the best in Indian T20 Cricket. Apart from Joseph's brilliance, Rahul Chahar also starred with the big wickets of the in-form Jonny Bairstow and Yusuf Pathan. Joseph was completely in command of the defense from the very start.
In fact, with his very first delivery, he sent back David Warner and then Vijay Shankar. In his second spell, he sent back Deepak Hooda to all but end Sunrisers' chase. Despite Pollard's brilliant, Hyderabad would have been confident of victory but Joseph had other plans.
"It's a dream start, can't get better than this. I just wanted to bowl to the plans. When they said I was playing, I decided to keep it simple and back myself. When I got my first wicket, I had a muted celebration since I was focused on the game that we had to win.
"The boys are really playing well, a lot of hard work, so all we need to do is go to the park and show them what we can do," Joseph said after the spectacular show.
