England turned up in style with the ball and in the field to defend their challenging target of 269 as regular wickets and tight fielding left Sri Lanka with little chance to stamp their authority in the game in the fifth ODI at Manchester on Saturday.

Earlier, Jonathan Trott (72) and Eoin Morgan (57) hit half-centuries as England posted 268/9.

Jonathan Trott (72) and Eoin Morgan (57) hit half-centuries as England posted 268/9 in the fifth and deciding ODI against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.

Earlier, Sri Lanka struck in quick succession to peg England back after openers gave the home side a terrific start.

The duo of Alastair Cook and Craig Kieswetter took the side to 85 before they decided to take the batting powerplay.

Cook swallowed SurajRandiv's bait of hitting a loopy delivery by coming down the track only to be stumped by Kumar Sangakkara.

Dhammika Prasad then got into the act and picked up the wickets of Kieswetter and Pietersen after England captain Cook won the toss and elected to bat.

With the series all square at 2-2, both sides made changes to the teams that played in England's 10-wicket win at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.
