Last Wicket: Neil Wagner 17(24)

Over 23.0

Stuart Broad is the Man of the Match

Alastair Cook (ENG): We needed 250-260 on this wicket. The way Broad and Anderson bowled was just outstanding. When Broad gets it totally right, swinging it away in the mid 80s, he's very hard to face. Root had a very good game. His partnership with Trott was very good. Fantastic achievement by Anderson to get 300 wickets. He's a captain's dream. He knows what he's doing and does it well. A 170 run win is a big win in Test. We have to look at things we have to do better as well.
Brendon McCullum (NZ): We came in with incredibly high hopes. Stuart Broad was outstanding. There was an element of panic with our batting. We had periods of domination. Incredibly proud of the guys. We have taken a couple of steps forward and a step backwards. Tim Southee was superb. We have another Test in a few days and we have to look to do well there. I'm confident that we'll play ourselves in better than we did today. We have some errors we have to work on. We do have the bowlers to take 20 wickets. we have to sit out and work out as a team if I have to take up the wicket-keeping. We've fought very hard throughout the game but let ourselves down today.
England won the match by margin of 170 runs and lead the series with 1-0.
